A flat nylon web strap with ten sewn loops, numbered along its length. The numbers are the useful part: a hold at loop four this month and loop six next month is a measurement, where 'a bit further' is not.
No stretch in the strap itself. It holds a position without adding elastic recoil, which is what you want for a static hold.
